Membership of Dundee Choral Union

Dundee Choral Union is always pleased to welcome new members.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of DCU should come along and sing with us for a couple of weeks to see how they enjoy the experience of singing with a large choir. Our performances which take place in December and March of each year are held in one of the finest concert halls in Europe, namely Caird Hall, City Square, Dundee; we are also accompanied by first class orchestras, for example, The Orchestra of Scottish Opera, Scottish Chamber Orchestra etc. If after the experience of singing with a large choir and you have enjoyed these evenings singing with Dundee Choral Union and you would like to join us a group audition will take place. Anyone interested should contact the General Secretary, Mrs Kay Simpson, using the contact details shown at the foot of this page or by email. She will give you details of rehearsal times, venue etc.

It is intended to hold open evenings at our first two rehearsals in September 2016, namely 12 and 19 September when we will be rehearsing for our Christmas Concert (see programme under concerts page), the idea for these two open rehearsals is to give anyone a chance to sing with a big choir and see how they enjoy the experience; if you find this is what you want and would like to join us then take part in the group audition which will take place at the end of the evening after the second week.

Dundee Choral Union meets on Monday evenings between September and March at 7.00 pm prompt until 9.00 pm in the High School of Dundee, Margaret Harris Hall, Euclid Crescent, Dundee. Cars may be parked in the school playground.

The subscription rate for the 2016/2017 season is £96.00 per adult. If anyone wishes to pay their subscription by direct debit this could be done between October and March at £16 a month over this period. Full-time students and school children are admitted to membership free of charge. For anyone joining for the first time in January the Subscription for the half season will be £48.00 per adult.

Music is provided to members which they may buy to keep for their own use or they may wish to hire, if copies for hire are available; if available there is a nominal charge. All music is ordered through Dundee Choral Union.

Members are expected to sell tickets for the concerts.
