CHOIR ETIQUETTE

Rehearsals begin punctually at 7.00 pm so please be in your seat in good time. The conductor appreciates it if you listen to his explanations and instructions and refrain from chatting whilst he is rehearsing other sections of the choir. You should bring a pencil and eraser to each rehearsal, in order to mark your scores with the conductor's directions.

At the start of each term, the conductor provides a list of the sections to be rehearsed each week. You are expected to do a little homework before the rehearsal!

If you are singing in the concert at Caird Hall, you must attend the rehearsal which will start at 2.00pm please be ready to be seated on instruction from the Steward of the Chorus. In the evening please be at the Marryat Hall not later than 7.00pm and ready for line up in the Marryat Hall at least 15 minutes before the commencement of the concert

DRESS CODE

Concert dress is long black skirt and long-sleeved black blouse for ladies, and dinner suit, white shirt and black bow tie for gentlemen.

MUSIC SCORES

Music for each concert will be available for purchase or hire at the first rehearsals in September and January. It is important all hired music is handed in at the end of each concert as these have to be returned to the Hire Company. Anyone not intending to return to Choral after the end of the current season must hand back their folder as it is now impossible to replace with the same folders and they are also extremely costly.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

The membership fee for 2016/2017 is £96. If you are a new member and join in January 2017, the cost will be £48. If you are a former member and rejoin in January, the fee will be at the full annual rate £96.
If you can't make the first rehearsal, you can usually join within the following two weeks. But if you have to miss four or more rehearsals overall you won't be able to sing in the concert.
